SuperWords
SuperWords, The Best SCRABBLE© and other word game lookup tool there is.
SUPERWORDS SuperWords is a great tool for either looking up a word that you can use in a game of SCRABBLE©, or to check a word that's been played. In the Standard English version of the application, the word list is comprised of publicly available, commonly available word lists, used in English speaking countries around the world. Additional versions are in development for other languages. Please remember that this will never be an approved authority for SCRABBLE© Tournament play in the USA or other places where the approved word list is under copyright.

WORD SEARCH SCREEN Look up any word to see whether you can use it in a game of scrabble. If the word exists in the US Tournament Word List (TWL06) you'll see "GOOD for US Tournament use". If the word exists in the word list used in the UK, Australia and other English speaking parts of the world (SOWPODS), you'll see, "GOOD for International use". Otherwise, you'll be told that the word is not accepted for play. Be sure to choose your language here also. USA for tournaments within the USA and Canada, and ENGLISH for most other Enlish speaking countries. |

LETTER TILE ENTRY SCREEN Tap on any of the empty letter tile squares to start entering the letters in front of you. Your letters go into the top line, we'll try to use all of them. Then pick some points on the scrabble board where you might be able to place you letters. Identify up to 7 of these, and put the letters for those into the second set of empty tile squares. Press CLEAR any time to start again, or press HELP for help. SuperWords will remember your letters if you have to exit the program. |
LETTER TILE ENTRY In this example, we have the letters ABCDE and F, and a BLANK tile in front of us. So we type these in as shown. We use the SQUARE BLANK Button in the bottom row of letters on the keyboard, to enter a blank. Press SEARCH (the green check) now to do a lookup, press CLEAR (X) to start over, or tap on a tile to replace what's there.

RETURNED WORD LIST In just a second or two, the program found 1993 words matching the pattern that we gave it. Although the most valuable words are shown at the top of the list, multiple letter scores and multiple word scores will often increase the values shown when a word is actually played. Words that are included in the official word list are indicated with the label, "USA". These words, while not the US Official Scrabble Tournament word set, are the original and generally accepted list of words. The "SOWPODS" list is used for tournament play in many English speaking countries, and words from that list can be identified by that flag.

SCROLL AND SEARCH Look through the list by scrolling, or reduce the list size by typing in a short string of letters in the search bar. Only words that contain that letter, or that sequence of letters will be retained in the list. |
ADVANCED SEARCH The best possible plays in Scrabble combine the letters in your rack with letters on the board, as well as multiple letter and multiple word scores. To illustrate, we'll select the middle row of the board, using the image of a board at the bottom of the screen. Drag your finger around to find the row or column. Then we enter whatever letters are already on the board into the second line on the screen. In this case, the previous player put down, "DING" at the starting point on the board. We have letters, "EXCLUDE" and a blank in our rack, as you see. I'm tempted to build the word, "EXCLUDING"... But see what happens! |
ADVANCED SEARCH RESULT Immediately, we're given some much more valuable possibilities. By playing all of the tiles, starting at the top of column 8, and using the "D" from "DING" as my final letter, we can score 104 points in this single play! When a blank is assigned, we'll show it to you as the letter it's used for, enclosed in a rectangle. When existing tiles on the board are used, we'll show them in a darker brown, like the "D" in the middle of the lines to the left. |
CHANGING THE LETTERS Go to any of the screens at any time, and look up another word, or update your letters and SCRABBLE board points for the next round. Select the particular tile that you wish to replace, and type a new letter over it. Or, start at the first letter, and enter an entire new set of letters. Although a CLEAR (X) button is provided, there's no need to use it. |
